Earlier this year, I published a post that was very bullish on an emerging electricity grid powered primarily by distributed energy resources (DERs) like solar, wind, and batteries. An opportunity akin to the proliferation of information brought about by computers and the Internet. . The key idea is zero marginal cost. How about 10x?

What comes next remains to be seen but these revolutions even empowered individuals not touched directly by the uprisings.

One is explaining the world as it used to work: the importance of gatekeepers, the scarcity implied by limited distribution, and the resulting quality bar that the industry is so proud of. Mostly it is the time and expense required to create the means of distribution for that industry. It’s just taking some longer than others.

Last night I had the great privilege to interview Bill Gross , one of the Internet’s true pioneers. He took out an ad in the Yellow Pages (it was the early 80′s, pre Internet), which cost him $1,000 / month for a half-page ad. If it worked in the Yellow Pages, why not on the Internet?
