Conversely, the things you measure well, with easily understood and visible metrics, tend to improve without much extra push. They keep the role neutral, like Switzerland, neither on the research side, nor on the operation side, but in between, like a mediator needs to be. More like a surgical strike. 1 is measurement.

Germany’s NPR station interviewed me that same week, and dozens of articles flooded Germany, Austria, Switzerland, India, the UK, and Canada within a week. Our revenue is still up, and all the metrics are going in the right direction. If we don’t change something fast, that strangle hold on first place will be disrupted.

If you want to understand the clickstream data for any website you could go to Compete (here's ESPN's data , or this blog's ).

I love looking at cost per account acquired as a key metric to share with potential acquirers. Well, in order to be “bankable,” meaning a company that a bank would lend to, you have to have some of these metrics dialed in. They can simply grow quite quickly by winning new customers.
