I had been looking around at several deals in late 2008 as the markets were tanking. Had he not heard about our commitment it’s not clear whether he would be rushing to submit a term sheet. a 70% decrease in price might seem like a ‘bargain’ to buy, but in 2008, it took stocks 10 years to recover their original price following a recession, and some lost up to 90% of their original value, so it’s hard to predict how far we are from the bottom. This is a company that, according to the article, got term sheets from half of the VCs that expressed interest in the company. The last closed market we had was from about September 2008 until June 2009--10 months. In 2008, people weren't sure if we were heading into a complete financial collapse.
