In the last two weeks there’s been a flurry of articles about the implications of a 25% decline in the public market value of a bunch of Internet stocks. We probably had about $150m committed and were running around trying to get to $300m for what we had positioned as a dedicated Internet VC fund. No phones, no email.

But what shaped their world was coming of age with the internet, mobiles devices, and social media. The last two were the internet and mobile phones. I believe AI is not only on that list, but also at the top of it, because of its potential to amplify how we use the internet, mobile phones and many other technologies.

I was present at the creation of the first microprocessors, participated in the PC revolution, built video games, and shipped software on the first Internet browsers. Our better angels soared as printed books became the Internet of the Renaissance. I don’t have to explain the Internet to you. The same is true for the Internet.

It was a well-respected business that operated in the city of Scranton for decades. More because I met my wife(Niki) who is also a linguist in Italy. And you know, you can't but reference Italy when it comes to coffee. However, we also didn’t want the name to be so obscure that no one would find us on the internet!

Although the Internet gives you pervasive reach, it hasn’t reduced the world to one locale for your business. I had organized European operations into regions and the country manager for Italy reported to the central European manager based in Germany. HR rules are local.
