Reading the NY Times article “ Jeffrey Katzenberg Raises $1 Billion for Short-Form Video Venture, ” I realized it was time for a new startup heuristic: the amount of customer discovery and product-market fit you need to find is inversely proportional to the amount and availability of risk capital. It’s the antithesis of the Lean Startup.

While the Lean LaunchPad class has been adopted by Universities and the National Science Foundation, the question we get is, “Can students in K-12 handle an experiential entrepreneurship class?” Our students first worked with two local startups who agreed to be their clients, on real-problems. Hawken School has now given us an answer.

I just spent a month and a half at Imperial College London co-teaching a “Wicked” Entrepreneurship class. Co mpanies also face Wicked problems. As Wicked and Lean seem to be mutually exclusive, this was a pretty audacious undertaking. This five-week class was going to be our MVP. Here’s what happened.
