It’s really difficult for me not to get into the thick of discussions about whether or not you can and/or should build a company in New York City. I grew up here, went to school here, and have worked hard over the last 5+ years to help build up the NYC innovation community. Look, New York City isn’t for everyone.

I have no doubt that any new school dedicated to engineering will be a good thing in New York City--one that I will fully support. Downtown Brooklyn is in close proximity to Dumbo, a burgeoning tech community, and downtown Manhattan's own innovation centers. Roosevelt Island or Downtown Brooklyn?

We also talked about the emergence of New York City as the “hot” new area of entrepreneurship, VC and innovation driven by the quantification of the online advertising industry. Gilt Group is currently the largest private sale web site in US. Configurable from desktop-based web-based UI. Time will tell.
