We reviewed CB Insights’ global list of “40 of the Best VC Bets of all Time.” Of the 19 Western Europe/Israel-based founders, all were white. All of the 40 companies’ 92 founders were male. Of the 43 U.S.-based And perhaps more interestingly, only 4% produce a return of 10x or more, and only 10% produce a return of 5x or more.”

It was much harder for a “remote” company in the Mid West, Europe, or Canada to draw any attention to themselves. Look global and local. In short, you’re going to want to look for the best funding partner (or collection of partners) possible, rather than just focusing locally.
